Château Chantegrive

Bordeaux > Graves - 50.00% Cabernet Sauvignon; 50.00% Merlot

Château de Chantegrive is located in the commune of Podensac, south of Bordeaux, on a special terroir opposite the Garonne river valley. The soil is largely composed of quartz pebbles deposited by the river and its tributaries in bygone geological eras. Château de Chantegrive has very modern winemaking facilities, though the wine is made traditionally and aged in barrel.
As a member of the Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux, Chantegrive is well-equipped to receive visitors with customary Bordeaux hospitality. The name of Chantegrive comes from the fact that passing grives (thrushes), love to stop here and feed on grapes during the harvest. The estate has 92 hectares of vines, producing both white and red wines with the Graves appellation as well as a sweet white wine under the Cérons appellation.
